Orfeas Chalet
Pelion Villas Portaria
Orfeas Chalet is located in the village of Portaria, Pelion, Volos, Greece. This early 20th century elegant guest house is rented as a whole and can accommodate up to seven people.
The Mansion was built in 1928 with the use of Pelion stone, the popular local material. Yet, it owns a distinctive architectural look, unlike the typical Pelion stone houses of its time. It was one of the houses of K. Panagiotopoulos, an important local tobacco merchant. Panagiotopoulos used the Mansion as a place of relaxation to invite his various friends and legendary personalities of his time.
For a considerable period of time, the house was abandoned. It has recently (2016) been renovated in a manner completely respectful to the history of the place and its interior furniture and decoration. In the front yard and all around the place, apart from the blooming garden, there is a one-acre orchard full of fruit trees and herbals.
The Mansion offers an impressive view of Volos city and its port as well as that of Pagasitigos Gulf. It combines the romantic sense of the beginnings of the previous century with all modern facilities, so the feeling of being its guest is unique.
